What is the low-FODMAP diet?
The low-FODMAP diet is a clinically validated approach to managing IBS symptoms. It involves three phases: elimination (2-6 weeks), reintroduction (testing individual FODMAP types), and personalization (your long-term diet). Settled guides you through all three phases.
Where does Settled's FODMAP data come from?
Our food database cites peer-reviewed sources including Monash University research, USDA FoodData Central, Varney et al. (2017), and Chumpitazi et al. (2018). Every food entry includes its source citation.
What is FODMAP stacking?
FODMAP stacking occurs when multiple foods in a single meal combine to exceed your tolerance threshold for a FODMAP subgroup, even though each food individually is "low FODMAP." Settled is the only app that calculates stacking in real time as you build meals.
What does the barcode scanner do?
The scanner looks up packaged foods and analyzes their ingredients for hidden FODMAP sources like garlic powder, onion powder, inulin, and other high-FODMAP additives.
What is FODMAP-Simple mode?
Based on recent research (Singh & Chey, 2024), FODMAP-Simple mode tracks only fructans and GOS — the two most common FODMAP triggers. This is a less restrictive alternative to full elimination. Discuss with your dietitian before switching approaches.
What does Settled Premium include?
Premium unlocks meal-symptom correlation insights, guided elimination and reintroduction phases, barcode and ingredient scanning, IBS-SSS severity scoring, weekly reports, and personalized tips.
How do I manage or cancel my subscription?
Open your iPhone Settings > tap your name > Subscriptions > Settled. You can change or cancel your plan anytime. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period.
How do I restore my subscription?
In the app, go to Settings > Restore Purchases.
What are symptom check-in reminders?
When enabled, Settled sends a notification 3 hours after you log a meal asking how you're feeling. This helps capture symptom data at the right time for more accurate trigger identification. Notifications are processed entirely on your device — no data is sent to our servers.
How do I turn notifications on or off?
Go to Settings > Notifications > Symptom check-in reminders. You can also manage Settled's notification permissions in your iPhone Settings > Notifications > Settled.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Settings > Delete Account. This permanently removes your account and all associated data within 30 days.
What data does Settled collect?
Settled collects only the data you enter: meals, symptoms, wellness check-ins, and screening scores. We do not sell or share your data. Crash reports are collected anonymously via Sentry. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Is my health data secure?
Yes. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. We do not send personally identifiable information in error reports. Your data is stored on secure servers and is only accessible to you.
